Welcome to the 3rd international IMPETUS conference
Join us at our third IMPETUS Conference in Flekkefjord for a journey of innovation from June 17 – 19 2024. We extend a warm invitation to witness the latest advancements in the IMPETUS simulation platform.
Since our 2022 conference, we’ve introduced an ultra-fast CFD solver, new interior ballistics functionality, an improved SPH solver, and enriched GUI features, including a cutting-edge fragmentation tool. Additionally, a new support platform is now in place, and a host of exciting Objects has been added to the IMPETUS Market. Most importantly, we eagerly await our community’s presentations of interesting work and simulation results.

We meet once again in the beautiful surroundings of Flekkefjord on the southern Norwegian coast for three days of meetings, presentations, showcases and lively discussion with fellow Impetus users and contributors. As always we offer local attractions nearby and the finest locally sourced food! Join us for a great start to your summer holiday!
Ship ahoy!
This year we also have the additional treat of accommodation on board a historic ship! A recently restored coastal ferry built in 1949, MS Sandnes has now been requisitioned for the Impetus conference! She can provide accommodation on board during the conference, and will take us for an evening midsummer cruise and dinner around the local area on day two. The ship will also provide transportation between Stavanger and Flekkefjord for those who wish an extended cruise!
Options for travel
MS Sandnes will provide transportation from Stavanger to Flekkefjord on Monday 17th June. Please note that the ship departs early at 08.00 so it would be prudent to ensure arrival well before this time. (Fee €30.00 per passenger).
Alternately, delegates can take public transportation (bus/train) or rent their own vehicles from the airport through the usual international providers. Impetus has also arranged a bus service from Stavanger Airport Sola which departs at 15.00 and arrives in Flekkefjord at 17.00.
Options for accomodation
This year Impetus will not handle accommodation as in earlier years except for stay aboard MS Sandnes which is arranged exclusively through us. Delegates have the option of staying at Grand Hotell or Maritim Fjordhotell and can use the promotional code provided in the registration email for a preferential rate of 1800 NOK per night. Payment is made directly to the hotel.
Local accommodation can also be found through Airbnb or at Egenes Camping. For those interested in a little luxury there is the option of Glamping at Kongshavn on the Island of Hidra, see www.opplevhidra.no for details.

Evening cruise
MS Sandnes hosts us for a Midsummer evening cruise along the coast on the evening the first conference day, Tuesday 18th June, from 6pm – 11pm. Aperitifs and dinner are provided. Please book in advance!
Day 3 – Secondary conference day
Wednesday 19th June
This is the second and final programme day of the conference. The conference closing takes place in the afternoon. Impetus will arrange bus transport to Stavanger Airport Sola for “early leavers”. For participants leaving the next day, we offer several alternative evening arrangements to get better acquainted with our town.

Travel information
Flying
Stavanger airport (SVG). Rent a car and drive to Flekkefjord (120 km – max 2 hours).
Driving
Drive to Hirtshals in Denmark and take the ferry to Kristiansand (approximately 3 hrs). Drive from Kristiansand to Flekkefjord (1.5 hrs).

Hotels
Delegates must arrange their own hotel accommodation. We have secured a reduced price for delegates at Grand Hotell and Maritim Fjordhotell of 1800 NOK (≈ €160) using the promotional code included in your registration confirmation email.

Bookings
Delegate passes cost €500 per person to cover reception, coffee breaks, lunch, dinner and social programme. Cabin bookings aboard the ship will be handled by us and we will notify each participant as soon as we have confirmation.
