Welcome to the the 4th International IMPETUS Conference
Join us at our fourth Impetus Conference in Flekkefjord from June 8 – 10 2026 for a journey of innovation. As always, we extend a warm invitation to witness the latest advancements in the IMPETUS simulation platform.
Since our 2024 conference, we’ve introduced E2S capabilities, more mature interior ballistics functionality, a new framework for underwater explosions, shaped charge template, external ballistic wind tunnel, GPU acceleration of the VAA tool and much more. We eagerly await presentations from our user community showcasing interesting work and simulation results.

We meet once again in the beautiful surroundings of Flekkefjord on the southern Norwegian coast for three days of meetings, presentations, showcases and lively discussion with fellow Impetus users and contributors. Ship ahoy!
Our conference ship from IC24 will return once more! A recently restored coastal passenger ship built in 1949, MS Sandnes has again been requisitioned for the 2026 Impetus conference. She provides accommodation on board during the conference, and will take us for an evening midsummer cruise and dinner around the local area on day two. The ship will also offer transportation between Stavanger and Flekkefjord to those who wish for an extended cruise!
Options for travel
MS Sandnes will provide transportation from Stavanger to Flekkefjord on Monday 8th June. Please note that the ship departs early at 08.00 so it would be prudent to ensure arrival well before this time. (Fee €30.00/350 NOK per passenger).
Alternatively, delegates can take public transportation (bus/train) or rent their own rental vehicles from the airport through the usual international providers. Impetus has also arranged a bus service from Stavanger Airport Sola which departs at 15.00 and arrives in Flekkefjord at 17.00.
Travel via Kristiansand Airport Kjevik (KRS) is also possible. The airport is 118km from Flekkefjord, a roughly 1hr 40 min drive.
Options for accommodation
Impetus will not handle accommodation except for stays aboard MS Sandnes, which are arranged exclusively through us. Delegates have the option of staying at Grand Hotell or Maritim Fjordhotell where we have secured a preferential rate of 2095 NOK (≈ €180) per night. Payment and reservation should be made directly with the hotel.
Local accommodation can also be found through Airbnb or at Egenes Camping. We expect many attendees, so it is good to prepare early and secure your preferred accommodation during the event.

Evening cruise
MS Sandnes hosts us for a Midsummer evening cruise along the coast on the evening the first conference day, Tuesday 18th June, from 6pm – 11pm. Aperitifs and dinner are provided. Please book in advance!
Day 3 – Second conference day
Wednesday 10th June
This is the second and final programme day of the conference. The conference closing takes place in the afternoon. Impetus will arrange bus transport to Stavanger Airport Sola for “early leavers”. For participants leaving the next day, we offer several alternative evening arrangements to get better acquainted with our town.

Travel information
Flying
Stavanger airport (SVG). Rent a car and drive to Flekkefjord (120 km – max 2 hours).
Kristiansand (KRS). Rent a car and drive to Flekkefjord (118 km – +/- 1hr 40min).
Driving
Drive to Hirtshals in Denmark and take the ferry to Kristiansand (approximately 3 hrs). Drive from Kristiansand to Flekkefjord (1.5 hrs).

Bookings
Delegate passes cost €650 per person to cover reception, coffee breaks, lunch, dinner and social programme. Cabin bookings aboard the ship will be handled by us and we will notify each participant as soon as we have confirmation.
